Legal Expert / Independent Medical Evaluations
As a service to the legal community and to many businesses and industries in the New England Region, the physicians in the practice are available to offer legal opinions, either informally or formally, on a consultative basis. The physicians work entirely as independent consultants to help with the processes of medico-legal liability or occupational / disability evaluations. We accept no retainers or salary from any firm or company to work only on their behalf and we pride ourselves as being fair and unbiased to both sides in the litigation process, depending on the merits of the case.
Our physicians have years of experience in helping in the Independent Medical Evaluation (IME) process. Also, with years of interaction with lawyers and industry, and with the experience gained at the Occupational Medicine Center in our office and with many malpractice case reviews, we can offer professional, high quality and comprehensive opinions which are aimed at successful and fair resolution of conflicts that arise between patient and industry, or between patient and physicians.
Dr. Teiger has been involved in the field of Asbestos consultation for over 20 years, and has been certified in the past as a "B" Reader by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). He also has done consultation to the Aviation community as a FAA designated Aviation Medical Examiner (AME). Dr. Tallapureddy is a national expert on Travel Medicine. Dr. Polatnick has expertise in Bariatrics and Geriatric Medicine. All physicians have active hospital - based practices and are Hospitalists for a large tertiary care referral teaching hospital in Hartford.
