Occupational Medicine

The staff at Pulmonary and Internal Medicine Associates of Greater Hartford, PC have been working in the field of Occupational Medicine since opening in 1983. The focus here primarily is diseases of the respiratory tract such as occupational asthma, chemical exposures, asbestos related diseases, "dirty building" issues and other inhalation - related issues. Dr. Teiger is a member of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and was certified as a "B" reader by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. This is a certification given by NIOSH to interpret chest x-rays according to strict principles established for occupational pulmonary diseases. Considerable expertise in OSHA requirements and regulations has been gained over the years to help offer full service to patients, employers and the legal profession.

Services Offered include:

  • Comprehensive Consultative Services and Independent Medical Examinations (IME)
  • Chest X-Rays taken and interpreted by a certified "B" reader to comply with OSHA standards.
  • Complete Pulmonary Function Testing with formal interpretation by a Board Certified Pulmonologist.
  • Respiratory clearance letters for employment (available on same-day basis). Appointments required.
  • Legal Opinions and Consultations. Service can be offered both informally or by a formal written opinion.
