Travel Medicine / The Travel Medicine Center of Connecticut

The Travel Medicine Center of Connecticut offers complete medical travel services.

At the Center, we are your travel medicine experts. We provide up-to-date advice; immunizations for the individual, and healthcare evaluations and post-care treatment for the returning traveler.

Vaccines and Immunizations

We can administer routine inoculations for travelers, for diseases including poliomyelitis, an infection of the gastrointestinal tract and central nervous system, and tetanus, an acute disease induced by a poisonous substance at the site of the injury. We will also assist in bringing your childhood immunizations up-to-date.

For people traveling outside Northwest Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand, we recommend vaccinations for: diphtheria, an acute bacterial disease that primarily involves areas of the head and neck, Hepatitis A, an infection related to contaminated food and water, Hepatitis B and typhoid.

We also provide vaccines for people traveling to areas where there is a particular risk of influenza, Japanese encephalitis, meningococcal meningitis, pneumococcus, and rabies.

Medical Records

You may be required to carry certain medical documentation while you travel. We can assist you with the completion of this paperwork.

Keeping You Healthy While You Travel

By following guidelines about sensible eating and drinking, safe sunning and swimming, avoiding insect bites, assembling an easy-to-carry first aid kit, and reducing the impact of jet lag, you can stay healthy no matter where you are. We'll provide you with tips for avoiding illnesses, as well as information on how to access medical assistance while traveling.

Post - Travel Evaluation

Once you return from your trip, we'll schedule a full medical examination to make sure that your readjustment to home is safe and healthy.
